I suspect that Donald Trump's supporters are his devotees not because they see him as a credible politician with a realistic program (assuming he has one) that they identify with, but simply because Mr. Trump presents himself as the best choice to defeat those who they consider to be their enemies. Therefore, any criticism or attack from their enemies is seen as a conspiracy theory that only confirms the correctness of the supporters' choice.
