As I have written, the ability to attract foreign talent has long been a key success factor for American companies and universities. Therefore, asking companies to pay $100,000 per year for H-1B work visas can only harm the American economy.
I emphasize that the Trump administration's negative stance toward immigrants will extend to highly skilled immigration, potentially harming the essential research that drives innovation for American companies.

While the EU's benefits can be attributed in part to its large population compared to other countries, it is important to note that the US ranks sixth in terms of Nobel Prizes awarded in these fields per million inhabitants, surpassed only by Switzerland, Sweden, Britain, Denmark, and Austria. These figures anticipate the consequences for the research of a negative stance toward high-skilled immigration.
