PUBLIC SERVICE: Island in a sea of delusion.

While half Portugal quarrels about prime minister resignation to go Brussels and other half dreams about Portuguese football team get a most wanted passport to semi-final of European cup, someone keeps his mind clear enough to quote Alexander Tyler:
«A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship

Tyler's thought applies more than it appears to the Portuguese situation, after 6 years of socialist loose budgeting and 2 years of shy reforms.
